"Distant Mood" is the debut full-length album from Cleveland-based alternative / electronic musician Broken Keys. Combining downtempo breakbeats and swirling arpeggios with breezy, vaporous vocals, Broken Keys glides through vintage house, "chillout room" style hip-hop, and psychedelic pop influences for a smooth, relaxing listen from start to finish. A light and intoxicating flight of dimly-lit grooves and evaporating memories - a "distant mood".
“Distant Mood” is a lush, downtempo groover from Cleveland-based DJ, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Broken Keys. A chilled-out soundscape is accompanied by calming vocals, assuming a hazy demeanor over the whirring synth arpeggio and crawling rhythms. The hip-hop and psych-pop elements are evident, in the rhythmic backing and hypnotic vocal flow, respectively. “Distant Mood” is a consuming success with a tendency to put listeners in a relaxed mindset.
-Mike Mineo (Obscure Sound)
"Distant Mood on first play through has a certain flow to it. The flow is found through the drums that are very prominent through-out the whole track listening. The drums are then backed by very wavy almost trippy sounding chords that seem to the accent the drums in a certain way that I have not heard before. Broken Keys then takes random instruments to fill certain songs with a sense of purpose."

"A fixture in the local electronic/hip-hop communities for over 10 years, Broken Keys have performed and DJed everywhere from New York City, Detroit, and Los Angeles to Austin, Houston and Honolulu. The group has released music on domestic and international record labels."
